Procurement Lead

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned procurement expert to lead a dynamic procurement team, delivering complex sourcing initiatives that enhance value, manage associated risks, and support key organisational goals within the Victorian Government framework. This engagement is a fixed-term contract lasting three months based in Melbourne, Victoria.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee comprehensive procurement and strategic sourcing activities across various categories.
• Formulate procurement strategies, manage intricate tendering procedures, and negotiate commercial contracts.
• Handle supplier relations, monitor contract execution, and mitigate procurement risks while adhering strictly to Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB) policies and applicable laws.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionals to achieve excellence.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide expert procurement guidance aligned with strategic business goals.
• Drive enhancements in procurement processes, boost supplier performance, and secure value-for-money outcomes.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Broad experience managing procurement or strategic sourcing in complex organisational settings.
• Practical knowledge and application of Victorian Government Purchasing Board policies and procurement frameworks.
• A record of successfully handling multifaceted tenders, negotiating with suppliers, and managing contracts.
• Robust commercial insight with superior negotiation and influence capabilities.
• Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, building effective relationships at all organisational tiers.
• Experience within public sector procurement is highly advantageous.
