Job description
About the role
Mitre 10 MEGA Whangarei is a locally owned store with a strong team atmosphere and a focus on delivering excellent customer service, quality products, and great value. This position is a chance to join a committed big-box retail environment and contribute to making customer projects happen by ensuring the right products are available at the right time.
As a proactive Procurement and Supplier Advisor, you will support daily procurement activity across the business, working alongside suppliers and store teams to keep stock moving, maintain strong availability, and deliver a dependable customer experience. The position reports to the Merchandise Manager.
This is not a management role, but it does offer room to expand your scope over time. The business is especially interested in someone who learns quickly, uses good judgement, and wants to grow their influence and responsibility gradually.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure products are available where and when customers need them for their projects.
- Develop productive supplier relationships that support reliable supply and strong in-store availability.
- Monitor stock accuracy and inventory health to support confident decision-making and a dependable shopping experience.
- Partner with store teams to understand demand patterns, respond to changes, and make sound purchasing decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve product flow, increase availability, and prevent supply disruptions before they affect customers.
- Take prompt ownership of supply or supplier issues and work through them to keep the store operating smoothly.
- Support assortment, replenishment, and inventory choices that keep the product range relevant and ready for customers.
- Maintain accurate supplier account records so back-office processes support effective store operations.
What’s on offer
- A role with broad storewide exposure and visible impact on customer experience and overall store performance.
- A supportive, practical team culture within a locally owned business that values initiative and contribution.
- Access to team purchasing discounts.
- Training and development through eLearning, on-the-job guidance, and Mitre 10’s national learning programme.
- Room to build capability over time and help shape how the role develops in future.
