Role overview
This opportunity is with a well-regarded mid-market private equity investor in Australia, based in Melbourne. The fund is known for backing founder-led and privately owned businesses, partnering with management teams, and focusing on long-term value creation across its portfolio.
The role sits within a collaborative investment team and offers direct access to senior decision-makers. The successful hire will be trusted with meaningful responsibility early on and will contribute across investment execution, portfolio support, and fundraising work. It is suited to someone aiming to build a long-term private equity career and interested in helping the firm expand through new funds and products.
Key responsibilities
- Assess new investment opportunities and conduct sector or thematic research.
- Build financial models, perform valuation work, and support transaction execution.
- Take part in commercial, financial, and operational due diligence.
- Draft investment memoranda and materials for investment committee review.
- Assist senior team members with fund strategy and capital raising, including investor research, preparation of fundraising documents, due diligence responses, and engagement with current and prospective investors.
- Support management teams and help drive value creation initiatives within portfolio companies.
- Work alongside advisers, lenders, management teams, and business owners during transaction processes.
Candidate profile
- 1.5 to 6 years of relevant experience from corporate finance at an accounting firm, investment banking, private equity or direct investment, and/or corporate development.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Comfort working with founder- and family-owned businesses.
- Sound commercial judgement.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and spoken communication abilities.
- Capacity to thrive in a high-performance team environment.
