Job description

Role Overview

Join a prominent Irish multidisciplinary consultancy as a Principal Project Manager in their Circular Economy team. This role transcends typical construction project management by leading multidisciplinary teams focused on civil and environmental engineering projects, including waste infrastructure, landfill remediation, resource management, renewables, public realm, and urban development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee civil and environmental projects from initial designs through tendering and construction assistance phases.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and allocation of resources effectively.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and local authorities to ensure project alignment and compliance.
  • Prepare and critically evaluate technical reports, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Coordinate the efforts of engineers, planners, ecologists, geotechnical experts, and specialized consultants.
  • Support procurement processes, contract management, and construction delivery stages.
  • Mentor engineering staff and cultivate the development of technical leadership within the team.
  • Assist in proposals, tenders, securing frameworks, and building repeat business opportunities.
  • Maintain rigorous standards for quality, health and safety, and design risk management.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree holder in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status recognized by Engineers Ireland, ICE, or an equivalent institution.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience post-graduation.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within consultancy environments managing multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Proven ability in budget oversight, programme management, client relations, and managing subcontractors.
  • Advanced skills in technical reporting and preparation of tender documentation.
  • Possession of a full, clean driving license with readiness to undertake national travel.

Preferred Experience Areas

  • Waste and resource management infrastructure projects.
  • Landfill remediation, including aftercare and capping.
  • Management of leachate, landfill gas, or contaminated land initiatives.
  • Operations involving recycling, waste transfer, or treatment facilities.
  • Familiarity with Public Works Contracts, NEC, FIDIC, or roles as an Employers Representative.
  • Expertise in environmental permitting processes, EIARs, or participation in Oral Hearings.

Benefits and Work Environment

  • Hybrid working model with flexible start times.
  • Shorter workdays on Fridays to support work-life balance.
  • Five dedicated days annually for Continuing Professional Development.
  • Clear career progression pathways toward Associate and Director positions.
  • Generous annual leave in addition to extra company days off.
