Job description
About the team
Zillow’s New Construction organization is creating a distinct marketplace that helps builders reach motivated buyers and market newly built and in-progress homes more effectively. The Strategy & Operations function serves as the link between planning and delivery, working across Sales, Product, Finance, Analytics, and Operations to set direction, strengthen execution, and enable steady growth.
About the role
Zillow is looking for a Principal Business Operations Manager to lead strategic execution for the New Construction business. In this cross-functional position, you will run the operating rhythm that keeps the organization aligned on its most important priorities, work with senior leaders to convert strategy into action, and apply analysis, planning, and communication to strengthen business performance. The role reports to the Senior Director, Strategy and Operations.
What you'll do
- Turn overall business strategy into a focused set of initiatives that supports growth targets for New Construction.
- Work with leaders in Sales, Product, Finance, Analytics, and Operations to align priorities and put key business goals into practice.
- Drive major cross-functional programs and planning efforts that connect to team and company strategy.
- Use data and performance trends to spot improvement areas, measure progress against important metrics, and move forward initiatives that enhance results.
- Own and refine the team’s business cadence, including decision forums, performance reviews, and management of risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to long-range planning and lead annual operating planning across functions.
- Create clear presentations and recommendations that help leaders make better decisions and communicate priorities with confidence.
- Strengthen processes, planning systems, and operating models so the organization can scale more effectively.
Role details
This is a remote position. Remote employees do not have a permanent corporate office and work from a location of their choice, which must be shared with the company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 states, subject to limited exceptions.
Base pay varies by location. In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC, the annual base range is $153,600 to $245,400. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia, the annual base range is $145,900 to $233,100.
In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards, depending on factors such as experience, performance, and location. Pay will not fall below the exempt salary threshold required by the state where the employee resides.
Who you are
- You bring 10 or more years of relevant experience in business operations, sales operations, revenue operations, process improvement, consulting, or a similar field, preferably within high-growth, technology, or other complex environments.
- You communicate clearly in writing and presentations, and you can adapt your message for senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
- You use data to solve problems and are comfortable with Excel, visualization tools such as Tableau or Domo, and turning analysis into practical business recommendations.
- You have strong project and program management experience and can drive end-to-end execution on complex initiatives.
- You know how to build trust and influence in matrixed organizations and align stakeholders around shared goals.
- You are organized, self-directed, and able to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
- You can handle ambiguity and shifting priorities while keeping good judgment and momentum.
- Zillow welcomes applicants with non-traditional backgrounds and encourages candidates with transferable experience to apply.
