Job description
Overview
WSP is seeking an experienced bridge engineering professional to support the delivery of complex transport and civil infrastructure work across Aotearoa New Zealand. This role is suited to a senior specialist with strong capability in bridge design and/or structural asset management, and interest in contributing to projects in Auckland, Hamilton, or Wellington.
As part of a global professional services organisation, you will work on technically challenging assignments, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and help deliver outcomes that improve communities and support long-term infrastructure performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consulting services to clients in bridge and civil structures, covering analysis, assessment, design, reporting, technical documentation, and construction-stage observation for transport projects and other related sectors where needed.
- Provide technical oversight, including review and approval responsibilities where appropriate within the team.
- Take the lead on design elements in major projects and help ensure delivery is on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality expectations.
- Stay actively engaged in project delivery so utilisation goals are supported.
- Check the quality of outputs and make sure all disciplines are coordinated into a complete package without gaps or clashes.
- Evaluate constructability and the clarity of drawings to reduce confusion during construction, and coordinate programme management across disciplines.
- Contribute as a committed team member toward business plan delivery and strategic objectives.
- Provide structural leadership on bridge and civil structures projects as required.
- Introduce practical innovation and technology that adds value for clients and the wider organisation.
Candidate Profile
- You should hold a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Ideally, you will bring at least 10 years of professional bridge engineering experience, including seismic design exposure.
- Experience using structural analysis software is required.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or an equivalent professional qualification, is expected.
