Position Overview
Tectran Manufacturing Inc is looking to recruit a meticulous and analytical Pricing & Data Analyst to aid in pricing strategies, customer quotes, cost evaluations, profitability assessments, and the implementation of price changes. This role reports directly to the Pricing Manager and collaborates closely with sales, finance, sourcing, engineering, operations, and customer service teams to collect data, perform cost and pricing analyses, generate reports, and ensure accurate application of authorized prices.
This full-time position is based at the corporate headquarters in Cheektowaga, New York, requiring on-site presence; remote work is not an option. It presents an excellent career start for individuals enthusiastic about working with data, resolving business challenges, and acquiring comprehensive knowledge about manufacturing, sourcing, pricing, and sales processes. Comprehensive training on the company's products, costing methodologies, and pricing systems will be provided.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support detailed analysis of product costs, sale prices, margins, and profitability metrics.
- Compile detailed breakdowns factoring in materials, components, labor, overhead, freight, tariffs, packaging, and other cost elements.
- Assist in identifying and explaining variances in product costs.
- Compare costs across various suppliers and manufacturing sites to support sourcing decisions.
- Maintain and update cost assumptions, pricing documentation, templates, and related files.
- Detect low or negative margin products and participate in evaluating remedial measures.
- Assist in preparing customer RFQs, bids, quotations, and new business proposals.
- Gather pertinent data such as costs, volumes, freight, packaging, and product specifications for pricing.
- Create pricing models and recommend selling prices for managerial review.
- Analyze various volume and sourcing scenarios to optimize pricing strategies.
- Document key assumptions, identify risks, and note information gaps.
- Track and compare quoted opportunities with actual outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of tools and parameters to enhance quoting efficiency and consistency.
- Support periodic price adjustment initiatives and maintain detailed records of pricing changes and approvals.
- Coordinate with sales and customers to confirm accurate implementation of new prices.
- Review orders, invoices, and internal systems to verify correct price application and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor pending pricing issues, customer interactions, required follow-ups, and completion timelines.
- Assist in evaluating customer requests for credits, discounts, or pricing exceptions.
- Analyze price effectiveness and financial impact by tracking price realizations and sales patterns.
- Prepare regular reports on pricing, margins, and profitability and support detailed variance and profitability analyses.
- Conduct market and competitive research related to product pricing and industry trends.
- Help maintain current competitive pricing and product comparison data.
- Support market price analysis and opportunity identification for cost reduction and business growth.
- Utilize available data and technologies to identify new sourcing or product line opportunities.
- Maintain pricing data accuracy within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, identifying errors or inconsistencies.
- Participate in pricing data cleanup, audits, and documentation of pricing decisions and approvals.
- Help design and implement standard operating procedures to streamline pricing, quoting, and follow-up processes.
- Seek opportunities to simplify or automate repetitive tasks using Excel and advanced analytical tools including AI technologies.
- Work collaboratively with Sales Operations and Data Analysts to ensure consistent and accurate pricing across systems and customer files.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, analytics, supply chain, engineering, mathematics, or related fields preferred; relevant associate degrees or work experience may be considered.
- Entry to three years of experience in pricing, data analysis, finance, sales analysis, manufacturing, sourcing, or supply chain roles.
- Strong proficiency or willingness to quickly learn advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Comfortable handling numerical data, spreadsheets, and large volumes of business information.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify anomalies or inconsistencies in data.
- Logical and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow projects to completion.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn about products, manufacturing, markets, and customers.
- Collaborative attitude to work effectively across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP, CRM, reporting, or business intelligence platforms (e.g., Epicor, HubSpot, Power BI, Qlik, SQL, Python).
- Background in manufacturing, automotive, heavy truck, industrial products, or distribution sectors.
- Familiarity with quotations, bills of materials, cost structures, and customer pricing strategies.
- Interest in process automation and practical applications of artificial intelligence.
