Role Overview

The Pre-Construction Coordinator supports the Operations department by preparing essential construction planning materials, formalizing documentation for client submissions, coordinating project-related resources, and aiding in project startup activities. This role collaborates extensively with General Foremen, Project Managers, and Estimators across the company's operating divisions to ensure thorough project planning, comprehensive documentation, and readiness for smooth project execution.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Operations team to develop and formalize project-specific pre-construction deliverables, including execution plans, stringing layouts, outage applications, grounding strategies, crane lift and helicopter work plans, permits, preliminary schedules, safety and environmental protocols, and access requirements.
  • Support General Foremen in transforming site visit observations into structured project documentation, notably drafting Project Execution Plans.
  • Organize, file, and disseminate project-related documents, drawings, and specifications for internal teams.
  • Engage with established subcontractors to confirm scheduling commitments and gather pricing information.
  • Coordinate the setup of new vendor accounts and assist with credit application preparations.
  • Maintain and update subcontractor prequalification data annually.
  • Foster and sustain strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Oversee Invitation For Bid (IFB) drawing reviews and submissions.
  • Participate in project kickoff and planning meetings, documenting minutes.
  • Perform other pre-construction tasks as necessary.
  • May require travel to various project sites.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong focus on quality.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities within a project environment.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary education or a related trades certificate is mandatory.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technologist qualifications, or PLT trades certification is advantageous.
  • Experience in powerline or industrial construction is viewed as a plus.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
