Power BI Administrator/Architect

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Administrator/Architect to manage and optimize Power BI environments, including Power BI Service and Premium Capacity. This role demands comprehensive expertise in Power BI tenant and workspace management, security frameworks, and CI/CD pipeline support, along with hands-on experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee administration of Power BI Service, Premium Capacity, and Power BI Fabric environments.
• Configure and manage tenants, workspaces, datasets, and reports within Power BI.
• Handle On-Premises Data Gateway setup and maintenance to ensure high availability.
• Monitor service health and capacity metrics, optimizing resource use and report performance.
• Establish and enforce backup, disaster recovery, and governance policies.
• Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) models.
• Control user roles, permissions, and workspace access, ensuring security compliance.
• Audit data access and monitor usage through activity logs.
• Provide second and third-level support, troubleshooting connectivity, refresh, gateway, and licensing issues.
• Create operational dashboards to monitor environment health and performance.
• Support multiple environments (Development, Testing, Production) and manage deployment pipelines with CI/CD processes utilizing Azure DevOps or Git integration.
• Collaborate with business users, BI developers, engineers, and architects, conducting training sessions and promoting governance standards.

Required Expertise

• Minimum of ten years managing Power BI environments, including practical experience with Power BI Service and Premium Capacity administration.
• Strong understanding of Power BI components: tenant, workspaces, datasets, and reports.
• Proficient handling of On-Premises Data Gateway operations and troubleshooting.
• Expertise in Power BI security structures, particularly RLS and OLS implementations.
• Proven skills in monitoring capacity usage, data refresh, and performance issue resolution.
• Competence in establishing backups, disaster recovery, and governance frameworks.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or Git environments.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving and advanced support capabilities (Level 2 & 3).
• Effective communication skills for partnering with both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications such as DA-100 or PL-300 are highly advantageous.
• Experience with enterprise-scale Power BI deployments.
• Knowledge of data modeling, DAX query optimization, and best practices in report design.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services and related infrastructure.
• Background in conducting user training and knowledge transfer.
