Role overview
Canada Post is seeking a Postmaster to lead the post office in Kugluktuk, Nunavut. In this community-facing role, you will act as the primary representative of the postal service, helping promote postal products and services to residents and local businesses while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
The position reports to the Superintendent/Local Area Manager and requires someone who can handle several priorities at once, deliver strong customer service, support staff, and help maintain a high standard of service to the community.
Key duties
- Work with the local community regarding Canada Post products and services.
- Market and sell postal products and services to both individual customers and businesses.
- Oversee post office operations so they align with retail opening hours and delivery targets.
- Handle postal revenue, assets, and related values responsibly.
- Keep accurate records and complete required reports.
- Lead, train, and evaluate staff performance.
- Support the management of mail delivery routes.
Requirements and qualifications
- High school diploma or provincial equivalent, and/or practical experience in business administration.
- Background in leading and directing teams.
- Experience dealing with the public in a retail or service setting, including sales and cash handling.
- Understanding of the rules, processes, and methods used to process mail and provide postal services.
- Ability to handle physically demanding work, including lifting mail containers up to 50 lb, pushing or pulling boxes, sorting mail, and standing for long periods.
Working conditions
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 13:30 and 14:30 - 18:00.
- The role is full-time and permanent.
