Role overview

This full-time permanent Postmaster position is based in Goodsoil, Saskatchewan and reports to the Superintendent/Local Area Manager. The role carries the responsibility of representing the Post Office in the community, driving postal product and service sales, overseeing staff, and maintaining a strong customer and community focus while balancing several priorities.

Core responsibilities

The Postmaster serves as the local representative of Canada Post, supporting business operations, community service, and retail performance.

  • Build and maintain relationships with the local community regarding Canada Post products and services.
  • Market and sell postal products and services to both individual customers and businesses.
  • Run the post office so retail opening hours and delivery commitments are met.
  • Oversee postal funds, assets, and other values entrusted to the office.
  • Keep accurate records and complete required reports.
  • Lead staff, including coaching, training, and evaluating performance.
  • Support the efficient handling of mail delivery routes.

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma, provincial equivalent, or related experience in business administration.
  • Proven experience in leading and directing teams.
  • Background in customer-facing retail or service work, including sales and cash handling.
  • Working knowledge of rules, procedures, and methods used to process mail and deliver postal services.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting mail containers up to 50 lb, pushing or pulling boxes, sorting mail, and standing for long periods.
