Job description

About the Role

Join the Napier City Council team as a Lifeguard, where you'll help the community stay active and safe by overseeing aquatic activities at the Napier Aquatic Network. This role involves working outdoors in an energetic environment, maintaining safety standards, supporting visitors' fitness goals, and ensuring the facilities remain in excellent condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor aquatic activities to ensure visitor safety and well-being.
  • Keep life-saving skills current and be prepared to respond to emergencies.
  • Conduct water-quality assessments and oversee pool operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and adequate supplies in facilities to enhance user experience.
  • Collaborate with a proactive team committed to service excellence and safety.
  • Engage and build positive relationships with community members, clubs, and organizations.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Friendly demeanor and strong team collaboration abilities.
  • High level of physical fitness to manage manual tasks and extended standing or walking.
  • Strong swimming proficiency, capable of passing swim tests and executing rescues.
  • Preferably holding National Pool Lifeguard Certification and/or First Aid Certification, though not mandatory.

Additional Information

This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 40 hours per week on a rostered schedule, based at Ocean Spa on Napier's Marine Parade. Pay ranges from $27.04 to $28.19 per hour, depending on experience levels.
