Job description

Overview

As a Pool Attendant in the Guest Activities team at Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge, you will help deliver a polished, welcoming resort experience for guests visiting the pool and wellness areas. The position focuses on maintaining a tidy, comfortable, and safe environment while supporting smooth guest service throughout the facility.

This role is based in Kananaskis, Alberta, and subsidized staff housing is available. The wage is $18.00 per hour.

The resort sits in the heart of the Canadian Rockies and offers a fast-paced, guest-focused culture with opportunities for growth, along with a strong emphasis on teamwork, service, and development.

Key duties

  • Arrange poolside seating, loungers, and related furniture before and during guest use.
  • Welcome guests to the pool area in a courteous and approachable way.
  • Hand out towels and refreshments, and respond to guest needs as they come up.
  • Explain and reinforce pool guidelines and safety expectations.
  • Keep the pool, hot tub, change rooms, and gym areas clean and well maintained.
  • Monitor cleanliness standards closely and report any maintenance or equipment concerns.
  • Ensure locker rooms are stocked with the required amenities.
  • Support Guest Activities programming such as campfires, movie nights, and holiday events.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned.

Experience and education

Completion of post-secondary education is required. Candidates should bring strong guest service skills, close attention to detail, and a consistent focus on health and safety. The role also suits someone who is energetic, adaptable, and able to manage several responsibilities in a busy environment. A First Aid certificate is considered an asset, and a valid ProServe certificate is required.

Working conditions

  • Long periods of standing and walking across the shift while checking the change rooms, pool deck, outdoor deck, patio, gym, and teen play area.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching for towel collection, lounge chair setup, and cleaning tasks.
  • Regular reaching, lifting, and carrying of towels, deck supplies, and amenities up to 10 lbs.
  • Work may involve outdoor exposure to sun, heat, humidity, or colder weather depending on the season.
  • Exposure to chlorine and other cleaning products.
  • Repeated sorting, folding, and handling of pool towels throughout the day.
  • Shifts may vary and can include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Additional information

The resort is located in Kananaskis, AB. Season availability applies and is subject to cut-off dates. The role is part of the guest activities operation within an Autograph by Marriott property. Applicants can expect a workplace with development opportunities, staff housing, employee meal support, activity discounts, shuttle access, wellness benefits, vacation accrual from day one, and other hospitality-related advantages.
