About the Role
Movement is Life, a national nonprofit focused on enhancing women's mobility and health through research, advocacy, and community engagement, is looking for a creative and strategic Podcast & Multimedia Producer. This person will drive the content lifecycle from planning to distribution for two key podcast series: Health Disparities and Let's Talk About Health.
The producer will also support broader multimedia storytelling efforts tied to the organization's national initiatives, working closely with leadership and national and local teams. This part-time contract role requires about 10–15 flexible hours weekly, with occasional evenings and travel, especially for the Movement is Life Annual Summit and other events. Detroit-area candidates are preferred though the role is remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop editorial strategies with leadership, including annual and seasonal content calendars informed by research on women's health topics, public policy, and community issues.
- Identify and recruit compelling guests from healthcare, philanthropy, advocacy, research, and community leadership.
- Manage podcast production end-to-end, including scheduling, logistics, audio/video editing, and publishing across platforms like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube.
- Create diverse multimedia content such as short videos, audiograms, promotional graphics, social media reels, highlight videos, and event recaps.
- Capture multimedia during national events and the Annual Summit, coordinating an on-site recording space and producing 6–8 interviews at the Summit for end-of-year release.
- Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns, write engaging copy for episodes and social media, schedule promotions, analyze audience data, and suggest strategies to grow listeners and engagement.
- Coordinate sponsor recognition and deliverables across multimedia channels, collaborating creatively to integrate sponsorships and identify new opportunities.
- Maintain organized production files and uphold high-quality production and accessibility standards.
- Collaborate across teams and participate actively in content planning meetings, supporting Movement is Life’s mission through innovative storytelling.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years' experience producing podcasts or multimedia content, managing full production cycles.
- Proficiency with editing and production tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Descript, Riverside, and Final Cut Pro or comparable software.
- Strong storytelling aptitude and excellent writing skills.
- Highly organized with strong project management capabilities.
- Experience producing engaging content tailored for social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with leadership.
- Preferred experience includes nonprofit or mission-driven environments, familiarity with women's health and community engagement, audience growth strategies, and managing sponsorship activations.
- Comfortable assessing existing podcast equipment, recommending upgrades, and working toward an efficient production setup using professional microphones, audio interfaces, cameras, lighting, and remote platforms.
Expected Outcomes
- Produce 18–24 high-quality podcast episodes annually, averaging two episodes per month, including various content types like rewind, best-of, and evergreen.
- Ensure consistent publishing cadence with flexibility around organizational events and holidays.
- Successfully record and produce 6–8 interviews during the Annual Summit for distribution through the holiday season.
- Build an evergreen content library for scheduling flexibility.
- Increase downloads, subscriber counts, audience engagement, and video views across platforms.
- Deliver engaging multimedia narratives that showcase Movement is Life’s programs and leadership nationally.
- Execute sponsor activations proficiently, strengthening partnerships.
- Become a reliable creative partner to the Executive Director and other leadership members.
- Help build the podcasts as leading multimedia platforms driving impactful conversations on women's health.
Additional Information
The position involves occasional travel primarily for the Annual Summit. Candidates should submit a resume, portfolio or samples of work including podcasts or multimedia projects, and a cover letter explaining their interest. Movement is Life currently has limited production equipment, so the candidate will assist in evaluating and recommending necessary upgrades as part of the engagement.
This is a meaningful opportunity to influence national dialogue on women's health by producing purposeful storytelling alongside respected healthcare and community leaders.
