Role Overview

We are seeking a Plant Maintenance Manager to join us full-time on-site in Widnes. The successful candidate will oversee the maintenance and operational reliability of all construction plant and equipment, including LGVs. Key responsibilities involve planning and coordinating both preventive and reactive maintenance, scheduling inspections, ensuring machinery safety and compliance, and optimizing availability for project demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose equipment faults and arrange timely repairs to minimize operational downtime.
  • Manage maintenance records and documentation to support compliance and improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise maintenance teams and manage external contractors effectively.
  • Oversee inventory of parts and consumables to ensure smooth maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement enhancements to maintenance processes and standards.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols related to plant operations.
  • Work closely with site teams to coordinate maintenance activities aligned with project schedules.

Candidate Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven expertise in maintenance management, with a strong focus on preventive maintenance programs for construction plant.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment maintenance and repair, specifically for construction machinery and associated tools.
  • Effective supervisory skills with the ability to lead maintenance staff and liaise with site and project teams.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to construction plant and safe work practices.
  • Experience in construction or civil engineering environments, particularly in plant or fleet maintenance.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills related to maintenance activities.
  • Vocational qualifications or certifications in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, or related disciplines are advantageous.
  • Willingness and ability to work on-site at Widnes, adapting to operational and project needs.
