Job description
Role overview
Singapore is continually reshaping its city so it can keep pace with changing aspirations, support economic growth, and respond to a shifting demographic profile. This role sits at the intersection of planning and research, with a focus on understanding upcoming challenges, developing practical solutions, and testing them in real-world settings.
What you will do
You will work on research and development initiatives that are intended to address real-world urban issues. The role involves scoping, investigating, and managing R&D projects in collaboration with researchers and other government agencies. You will also take the lead in running pilots and test-bedding new ideas, solutions, and outcomes generated from these projects.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is a future-oriented planner who is curious, inventive, and comfortable working on problems that shape the built environment of Singapore.
Relevant background
- Exposure to or experience in urban and regional planning, architecture, civil engineering, transport planning, environmental studies, building, real estate, sociology, geography, economics, political science, gerontology, public health, or a related discipline.
- A genuine interest in Singapore’s physical urban development.
- Strong motivation to work on ageing, public health, urban liveability, healthy cities, or closely related topics.
- Prior involvement in research projects, and in managing pilots or research work, would be advantageous.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt easily, take initiative, generate fresh ideas, and stay resilient when work becomes challenging.
- Strong analytical ability and writing quality.
- Presentation and communication skills that support effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Additional information
This is a one-year contract role. Any extension beyond the initial term will depend on work performance.
