Job description

Role overview

Enable Ireland is a mission-driven organisation supporting children and adults with disabilities across Ireland, and has been recognised among Ireland’s Irish Independent 150 Best Employers 2025. The organisation also holds a Silver Award in Diversity from the Irish Centre for Diversity and places strong emphasis on fairness, dignity, equality, inclusion, and participation.

This opportunity is for a motivated Physiotherapy Staff Grade to join the team in CHO 1 Cavan on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Working pattern and pay

The role is offered on a 35-hour working week. The salary scale is €42,384 to €61,945 pro rata per year, with Long Service Increments applying. The scale is also expected to increase in 2026 in line with the recent WRC agreement on pay improvements for Section 39 organisations. Annual leave entitlement is 32 days pro rata per annum.

What the post involves

The position sits within Enable Ireland’s children’s services, delivered through Children’s Disability Network Teams under the national Progressing Disabilities Services model. The postholder will support children and young people aged 0 to 18 years and their families, working as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Key work will include assessment, intervention, clinical supervision, and contribution to service development. Services will be delivered in a family-centred way across multiple settings such as clinics, preschools, schools, children’s homes, and community locations.

Essential criteria

  • You must be registered, or eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • You must have the knowledge, ability, and professional standard needed to carry out the responsibilities of the post effectively.
  • Proof of statutory registration on the CORU physiotherapists register must be provided before an employment contract can be issued.
  • You must continue to hold annual registration with CORU after appointment and confirm this to Enable Ireland each year.
  • A valid driving licence for use within the state/jurisdiction and access to your own transport are required so services can be delivered across a broad geographic area.
  • You must be eligible to work in the state and should ensure you satisfy the employment permit requirements before applying.

Desirable experience

  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children with disabilities.
  • Experience completing Assessment of Need assessments.
  • Experience prescribing and monitoring equipment.
  • Experience delivering hydrotherapy.
  • Experience in community-based practice.
  • At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in paediatrics.
  • Membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.
  • Experience working with children and their families.
  • Paediatric placement experience from undergraduate training.
  • Strong professional judgement and appropriate professional behaviour.

Benefits

  • Access to a wide range of internal and external training opportunities.
  • Generous annual leave arrangements.
  • Flexible working options.
  • Long service reward scheme.
  • Paid and adjusted maternity leave.
  • Paid and adjusted adoptive leave.
  • Paid and adjusted paternity leave.
  • Wellbeing benefits.
  • Pension provision.

Application process

Applicants are asked to download the job description and person specification and complete the online application form. CV submissions will not be accepted.

Enable Ireland welcomes applicants who expect to become professionally registered in the coming months. Where a candidate is being considered pending registration, the person may first be appointed to an assistant grade post.
