Job description

Role Overview

This position involves collecting blood and other biological samples from patients, adhering strictly to established safety and hygiene standards. The role includes conducting home sample collections following designated routes and schedules, ensuring accurate patient identification and sample labelling, and safely handling, storing, and transporting specimens to the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood and other patient samples in line with safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Carry out home sample collections as per assigned routes and schedules.
  • Confirm patient identity and label samples accurately.
  • Handle, store, and transport samples securely to the assigned laboratory.
  • Maintain proper documentation and update collection details with the relevant system or app.
  • Adhere to infection control measures, biomedical waste disposal, and quality standards.
  • Provide courteous and professional care to ensure a positive experience for patients.
  • Work collaboratively with the operations team to ensure timely sample collection and resolve related issues.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Completion of 10+2 in Science coupled with a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/MLT/B.Sc. MLT) or a relevant paramedical qualification.
  • Between 1 to 5 years’ experience in phlebotomy within diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, or home sample collection settings.
  • Possession of a valid registration certificate issued by the State Paramedical Council or appropriate authority for DMLT/MLT/B.Sc. MLT.
  • Strong knowledge of venipuncture technique, sample handling protocols, and infection control practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability and willingness to travel to perform home sample collections.
  • Two-wheeler ownership with a valid driving license is preferred for locations that require it.
