Job description
About the company
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform that helps businesses take payments, expand revenue, and unlock new growth opportunities. Its users range from major global enterprises to fast-moving startups, all relying on Stripe to power internet commerce at scale.
About the team
The People Consultant group plays a central role in enabling Stripe’s people strategy across Tech, Core, and Business organizations. The team supports managers and leaders as the company grows, helps create an environment where employees from all backgrounds can succeed, aligns business priorities with people practices, and uses data-led thinking to shape strong HR approaches.
Stripe also places strong emphasis on inclusion and aims to build a workplace where people feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work, regardless of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, race, age, education, or other personal characteristics. Broadening internal diversity is viewed as an important part of serving a diverse customer base.
Role overview
In this role, you will partner with business leaders, managers, and employees to improve how people work, grow, and experience Stripe. You will help design and implement systems, processes, and programs that support team performance and employee success.
Key responsibilities
- Advise frontline managers on performance management, coaching, and employee relations matters, while working closely with Employee Relations and Legal partners to support well-reasoned business decisions.
- Collaborate with Legal and outside consultants to help maintain compliance with applicable local labor laws.
- Guide managers on Stripe people policies and best practices in partnership with other People team members and counsel when required.
- Work with People Partners, managers, and leaders on broader organizational initiatives, including restructuring and organizational design efforts.
- Support the launch and execution of core People programs such as performance review cycles, compensation cycles, employee engagement surveys, and other ad hoc initiatives.
- Review organizational health data, surface trends and insights for managers and leaders, and maintain tracking/reporting for selected people metrics that inform team direction.
- Help ensure a strong employee experience across key lifecycle moments, including employee departures.
Minimum qualifications
Stripe is seeking candidates who meet the essential requirements below. Applicants who meet these criteria are encouraged to apply; preferred qualifications are considered an advantage rather than a requirement.
- At least 3 years of HR experience, including a minimum of 1 year in a client-facing HR role such as HR Business Partner or Employee Relations partner.
- Demonstrated success working directly with managers on performance management, coaching, and complex employee relations issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including using data and sound reasoning to diagnose issues, evaluate practical solutions, and adapt when implementation needs change.
- Experience applying company policies and practices to recommend appropriate next steps.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Background in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, ideally in technology or a large organization.
- Project management capability, including building clear processes and coordinating with peers and stakeholders to deliver on time.
- Ability to spot improvement opportunities and escalate recurring issues to decision makers when needed.
In-office expectations
For most office-assigned roles, employees are generally expected to spend at least 50% of each month working from their local office or with users. This can vary based on role, team, and location. For Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Bengaluru, and Dublin, the expectation is 100% office-based work. Some teams may also require more frequent in-office presence to support users and workflows, and the hiring manager will clarify this during the process. The policy is intended to balance collaboration and learning in person with flexibility where possible.
Pay and benefits
The annual salary for the primary location is €88,000 to €132,000. The range may differ for other locations and may be adjusted based on experience, qualifications, and the location tied to the role. For sales positions, any stated range would represent On Target Earnings, including base pay and sales variable compensation; however, this role is not described as a sales position.
Compensation and benefits can vary by location and may be discussed further during the hiring process. Potential components of the package may include equity, company bonus or sales commission/bonus, retirement plans, health coverage, and wellness stipends.
