Job description
About the company
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform that helps businesses accept payments, expand revenue, and unlock new growth opportunities. The company supports millions of organizations, from large enterprises to fast-growing startups, and its mission is to increase the GDP of the internet.
About the team
The Local Processor Acquiring (LPA) team is part of Stripe’s Global Selling organization and is focused on helping Stripe extend its global payments and treasury network into high-growth markets. The team enables businesses to accept payments from consumers around the world without having to establish local operations.
The challenge is especially important in emerging markets, where key payment methods such as Korean wallets, PIX in Brazil, UPI in India, and QRIS in Indonesia often require local acquiring infrastructure that traditionally takes years to build. Stripe’s approach is to partner with leading local processors so new markets can be launched in weeks instead of years, improving authorization rates, enabling local payment methods, and driving stronger conversion for cross-border businesses. Since launch in South Korea, the team has seen daily KRW transaction volume rise by more than 200%, and enabling local payment methods has produced over 6% conversion uplift in the data.
Role overview
In this role, you will lead product strategy, roadmap planning, and execution for Local Processor Acquiring. You will define how Stripe enters new markets quickly while ensuring that local payment methods are as seamless and dependable as any other method on the platform.
The position sits at the intersection of global strategy, money movement, partner management, and developer experience. Success in the role requires digging deeply into market-specific regulations, payment ecosystems, consumer behavior, and technical limitations, then translating that complexity into product experiences that work for businesses of every size.
Responsibilities
- Set and own the end-to-end product direction for LPA across several markets, including partner selection, integration design, buyer experience, merchant onboarding, and compatibility with Connect, Billing, Radar, and Terminal.
- Build a strong understanding of each market’s local payment methods, regulations, customer preferences, and competitive landscape, then use that insight to decide what to prioritize and in what order.
- Create an ambitious roadmap and drive delivery with a fast-moving cross-functional group spanning Engineering, Partnerships, Legal, Risk, and GTM, breaking large country-launch efforts into manageable shipping milestones.
- Act as a strong seller and storyteller for the product by partnering with Sales on strategic deals, handling objections, creating pitch materials, and supporting adoption among current Stripe users.
- Use data to guide decisions by evaluating conversion lift, authorization performance, PIV growth, and margin, and by identifying where Stripe should invest next.
- Own partner relationships from a product standpoint by defining requirements, establishing performance expectations, and pushing partners to meet Stripe’s quality standards.
- Advocate for a strong buyer and merchant journey by reducing unnecessary redirects, improving checkout experiences, and aiming for conversion outcomes that match or exceed direct integrations.
- Work through regulatory and compliance complexity with Legal, Policy, and Risk to identify workable solutions that open up markets while maintaining compliance.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Partnerships, Legal, Risk, Sales, Account Management, and Operations throughout planning and execution.
- Identify and develop new market opportunities and segments, such as domestic acquiring, global platforms, and Connect-related use cases, taking them from early stage to maturity.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in product management or engineering.
- Strong technical depth, with the ability to think like a developer, review code, participate in architecture discussions, and understand distributed systems and money movement.
- A highly proactive, owner-minded approach with the drive to make a product succeed across multiple markets.
- Comfort with data analysis, including SQL, funnel analysis, partner performance measurement, and using metrics to decide priorities.
- A customer-focused mindset with experience gathering merchant and buyer feedback and turning it into product direction.
- High standards for product craft and user experience, even in partner-led and compliance-heavy environments.
- A full-stack mindset for solving problems from partner integration through checkout, merchant dashboard, settlement, and payouts.
- Willingness to develop a deep understanding of market-level regulations, payment systems, consumer behavior, partner capabilities, and competition.
- Experience working with Sales and GTM teams to position products, support strategic accounts, and encourage adoption.
- Comfort using AI thoughtfully in daily work and to improve product development and operations.
- Ability to break down complicated systems into clear, executable pieces and sequence work across markets and segments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain customer problems and strategic direction.
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with money movement, regulated industries, or foreign exchange across more than one jurisdiction.
- Background managing external partners such as processors, PSPs, acquirers, or other financial infrastructure providers where product quality depends on partner execution.
- Experience building for emerging markets or working across different regulatory environments.
- Experience launching new products or operating in a startup-like setting within a larger company.
- Experience in payments infrastructure, local payment methods, or cross-border commerce.
- Experience with Connect, marketplaces, or multi-sided platform models.
- Experience conducting product market research and gaining internal support for product ideas from stakeholders and leadership.

Some teams may require even more in-office presence depending on user and workflow needs. The approach is intended to balance collaboration and learning with flexibility where possible.
