Job description
Overview
This role involves managing fundamental accounting and payroll responsibilities, emphasizing precision in data entry and a solid grasp of payroll operations. The position is based in Baton Rouge, LA, within a professional, drug-free work environment.
Key Duties
- Perform weekly check runs and process all invoice payments accurately.
- Match, batch, code, and enter invoices, ensuring proper handling of all invoice processes.
- Investigate and resolve accounts payable discrepancies with vendors.
- Maintain clear communication by responding to department and vendor inquiries regarding invoice payments through phone and email.
- Follow up on old or outstanding invoices and assist with month-end processing.
- Prepare payables and complete all related standard operating procedures.
- Compile payroll data from various records including hours, sales, bonuses, tax withholdings, benefits, and commissions.
- Update payroll master records to reflect changes such as tax exemptions, insurance coverage, compensation adjustments, promotions, or departmental transfers.
- Prepare and distribute employee paychecks and keep accurate records of leave pays and exempt wages.
- Generate periodic reports detailing earnings, deductions, and taxes.
- Demonstrate flexibility by being willing to learn additional roles within the accounting department.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in accounts payable and payroll management.
- Automotive industry experience is desirable but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with Netchex payroll software is advantageous.
- Experience with Tekion DMS preferred.
- Strong verbal communication skills for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
- Possession of a clean and valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving history.
- Proficient in computer use and quick to learn company-specific software.
- Ability to understand employee payroll concerns and address them in a professional, respectful manner.
