Job Summary

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a Mechanical Contractor firm in Guelph, Ontario. This full-time, permanent position requires managing accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining employee payroll records, and ensuring adherence to company policies as well as applicable legislation. The role demands a detail-oriented and organized professional experienced with payroll systems, who will also support finance and HR departments with payroll-related reporting and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute bi-weekly payroll accurately utilizing NetSuite and Payworks software.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of payroll-related accounts and documentation.
  • Maintain and routinely update employee payroll files and related documents.
  • Handle year-end payroll procedures including preparation of T4 slips.
  • Produce payroll reports, analyze inconsistencies, and resolve payroll-related discrepancies.
  • Complete all payroll remittances such as EHT, EI, CPP, income tax deductions, WSIB, and other statutory obligations.
  • Ensure payroll processes comply fully with federal and provincial legislation.
  • Address and respond professionally to employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Offer administrative assistance related to payroll and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience processing payroll using payroll software, with Payworks experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario's Employment Standards Act (ESA) in relation to payroll.
  • Mandatory Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with job costing processes is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. onsite in Guelph.

Compensation and Work Schedule

The role offers an annual salary starting at $65,000 along with benefits and an RRSP contribution package. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., fully onsite in Guelph, Ontario.
