Role Overview
Minor Hotels is seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join their Head Office team located in Brisbane or Maroochydore. This is a part-time role (30 hours per week) on a fixed-term contract basis. The officer will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing across multiple properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance with legislation, and providing exemplary service to employees and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complete fortnightly payroll processing for a portfolio of properties.
- Administer Workers Compensation payments, Paid Parental Leave through Services Australia, and Child Support when applicable.
- Maintain payroll and leave management systems with precise employee record keeping.
- Interpret various legislative instruments including awards, enterprise agreements, contracts, overtime, and shift allowances.
- Process employment actions such as onboarding, contract variations, pay increases, back pays, and termination settlements.
- Calculate and reconcile annual and long service leave accruals.
- Support month-end closures, payroll tax returns, reconciliations, and general ledger balancing.
- Prepare both internal and statutory reports related to payroll.
- Address payroll inquiries from staff and management promptly and effectively.
- Contribute to payroll compliance initiatives, audits, and special projects as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least three years experience managing high-volume payroll processes.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance standards.
- Preferred experience with Workers Compensation administration.
- Proven capability to juggle multiple deadlines while maintaining precision and timeliness.
- Exceptional attention to detail complemented by strong reconciliation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Well-developed organizational and problem-solving skills.
