Job Overview

This permanent full-time payroll clerk position (32 to 40 hours weekly) is based out of the HR Office in Vanderhoof, BC. Part-time candidates seeking 24 to 30 hours per week will also be considered. Reporting to the Vice President of People and Culture and collaborating closely with the Senior Payroll Benefits Specialist, this role embraces the co-operative values and delivers accurate payroll processing along with comprehensive employee benefits administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and process payroll efficiently and punctually, verifying timesheets and employee updates and compiling payroll reports.
  • Manage employee benefit programs including enrollments, modifications, and providing support to staff.
  • Respond promptly and confidentially to inquiries related to payroll and benefits, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Keep thorough and compliant payroll documentation consistent with relevant legislation and internal policies.
  • Prepare necessary payroll and HR-related reports and assist with administrative functions within the payroll department.
  • Collaborate with teammates to uphold a service culture that reflects local investment and community orientation.

Candidate Profile

  • Preferably 1 to 3 years of payroll experience.
  • Holding a payroll certification is an advantage.
  • Ability to stay composed and adaptable under deadline pressures and shifting priorities.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating the highest integrity.
  • Proactively keeps up-to-date with policy developments, legislative changes, and best industry practices.
  • Capable of delivering accurate advice and support regarding payroll and benefits during high-pressure situations.
  • Honest, dependable, goal-driven, and motivated to achieve excellence.
  • Values teamwork and relationship building, appreciating diverse viewpoints to attain shared objectives.
