Job description
Role summary
Qatar Fabrication Company is looking for a Payroll Accountant Assistant to support payroll operations for employees, including regular payroll cycles, per diem handling, leave and final settlements, off-cycle payments, and payroll processing for Nakilat, its subsidiaries, and joint venture entities. The role reports to the Finance Manager and is based in Ras Laffan / Doha, Qatar. Preference will be given to Qatari candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Support the end-to-end payroll cycle by processing employee payments accurately and on schedule in line with company rules and regulations.
- Prepare approved payroll-related reimbursements, loan recoveries, advances, and annual benefit entitlements, including the associated P&P work.
- Run monthly regular payroll and related payments for Nakilat, joint venture companies, and subsidiaries.
- Handle payroll payments for the seafarer workforce by coordinating with the Marine Personnel Department and Treasury.
- Monitor employee advances and ensure corresponding payments or deductions are processed correctly.
- Keep the general ledger updated and reconcile payroll-related financial entries on an ongoing basis.
- Calculate and prepare pension fund transfers for Qatari and GCC nationals once the required approvals are obtained.
- Process additional payroll items in SAP, such as air tickets, leave bonus payments, and other eligible claims.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to compute and process approved per diem and advance payments according to policy and procedure.
- Create internal orders and generate invoices for joint venture companies related to payroll and time-writing activities on a monthly basis.
- Complete expense recording in SAP, including amortization-based items and open-item listings with detailed support.
- Ensure monthly provisions are booked in SAP for end-of-service benefits and any other required accruals.
- Coordinate with HR/ER teams to draft final settlements, apply eligible allowances and deductions, and execute final payments after approvals.
- Support the Lead of Payment Services in closing the monthly regular payroll process and related updates.
- Assist with internal and external audits, schedules, and reporting requirements.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Lead of Payment Services.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within a comparable industry.
- Working knowledge of SAP Payroll and SAP HR.
