Role Overview
As a Patient Access Advocate, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between patients and essential medications. You will manage patient concerns comprehensively, identify and alleviate access barriers, and collaborate with patients, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical companies to foster lasting relationships and ensure adherence to prescribed treatments.
Hotline operating hours: 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM EST
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain relationships with patients, providers, and stakeholders while proactively updating them on developments and solutions.
- Advocate for patients by exploring all possible coverage options and resolving access obstacles.
- Handle incoming calls, assess customer needs, and meticulously document all interactions following established protocols.
- Provide oversight and guidance in transferring prescriptions to specialty pharmacies, prioritizing based on urgency.
- Assist with case management and reimbursement activities spanning various programs such as patient assistance, Hubs, compliance, and reimbursement hotlines.
- Support onboarding efforts by training and mentoring new Patient Access Advocates through hands-on shadowing experiences.
- Communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing, using clear, concise, and grammatically accurate language.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; alternatively, a High School Diploma/GED accompanied by at least four years of healthcare or customer service experience.
- Outstanding customer service abilities with a talent for understanding patient needs and proactively identifying potential barriers.
- Proficient in navigating multiple computer programs and systems.
- Strong process awareness with the capability to anticipate future steps, recognize problems, and implement solutions.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Empathetic approach toward patients combined with the capacity to stay composed in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
