Job description
Overview
This role involves supporting parts sales, inventory handling, customer service, and work order coordination in a physical workplace in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The position is based on site only; remote work is not available.
Language Requirement
English proficiency is required.
Education and Experience
A Registered Apprenticeship certificate is required, or the equivalent in related experience. Candidates should have between 2 years and less than 3 years of relevant experience.
Work Environment
The job is carried out on site in settings that may be dusty, noisy, and affected by odours. The work context may include industrial facilities or establishments, repair and service businesses, and retail operations.
Core Duties
- Respond to phone calls and pass on messages as needed.
- Create and arrange retail displays for parts and accessories.
- Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally.
- Recommend the correct parts or goods for specific applications.
- Process cash payments and related transactions.
- Receive shipments, then identify, mark, and organize incoming items.
- Issue parts and supplies for internal use.
- Prepare work orders and monitor their progress.
- Generate requisitions to restock parts and supplies.
- Unpack, sort, and store incoming materials and inventory.
- Sell replacement and spare parts.
- Place inventory into warehouse, tool room, or supply areas.
Technical Knowledge and Product Focus
Working knowledge of inventory control systems, Microsoft Office, and internet tools is expected. Experience with parts related to agricultural machinery, construction machinery, heavy equipment, manufacturing equipment, recreational vehicles, as well as small engines and generators is relevant.
Additional Requirements
A driving record check (abstract) is required. Applicants must have their own transportation and a valid driver's licence. The role also requires steel-toed safety boots.
Working Conditions
The position calls for strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-moving setting, physical stamina, comfort with standing for long periods, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while working under pressure. Lifting requirements may go up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
