Job description

Role overview

This is a senior partner-level opening with a fast-scaling, private equity-backed communications and marketing platform. The business has strong roots in Silicon Valley technology and works with organizations that are shaping the future of the sector. It is also broadening into key verticals such as technology, AI, financial services, healthcare, public affairs, consumer, retail, energy, PE, investor relations, sports, and entertainment.

For an accomplished strategic communications leader, this is a chance to step in as a founding member of a new business unit. You would bring your sector expertise, create new client relationships, and help define the practice’s market position, talent needs, and operating model. This is a builder’s role focused on growth, not a conventional management position.

Compensation is highly competitive, with a base salary of $300,000-$500,000, total compensation of $1M+ possible for top performers, and meaningful equity on offer.

The role can be based in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, or Chicago, with a hybrid working setup.

What you will do

  • Generate new business by leveraging your own network and building a strong partner-level pipeline.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for CEOs, general counsels, chief communications officers, and boards.
  • Advise clients on complex, high-stakes matters such as issues management, transactions, reputation, crisis response, and narrative strategy.
  • Help shape the new practice area, including team structure, positioning, and go-to-market approach.
  • Collaborate with creative, digital, content, and strategy teams to deliver integrated solutions that are stronger than those of a standalone communications firm.

Candidate profile

  • You should bring at least 15 years of experience in strategic communications, with a proven history of originating and expanding major client accounts within an agency environment.
  • Deep expertise in a relevant sector, along with an active network of senior decision-makers and communications buyers, is essential.
  • A demonstrated record of winning new business is required; account servicing experience alone will not be enough.
  • You must be comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial setting where pace and expectations are high.
  • You should have the executive presence to represent a premium firm externally and the competitiveness to win against strong market peers.
  • This opportunity is best suited to someone eager to build something new from the ground up rather than follow an existing playbook.

Additional information

The firm is scaling quickly and expects a high level of performance. It is backed by leaders who have strong standards and a clear sense of what excellent execution looks like. This position is intended for professionals who thrive in demanding, outcome-oriented environments and are prepared for challenging but meaningful work.
