About Lone Star College-Tomball
Established in 1988 as the third oldest in the LSC system, Lone Star College-Tomball serves a diverse student body with a wide array of academic and workforce programs, notably excelling in health sciences. It supports a unique lifePATH four-year degree program for adults with cognitive disabilities, collaborates with Harris County Public Library, and partners with Tomball Independent School District for early college high school education. Job Purpose and Duties
The Graphic Designer will create visual designs that align with LSC's brand standards and fulfill customer requirements. Using various mediums and tools, the designer will develop and produce imagery and graphics for communications.
- Supervise and guide student workers on particular design projects.
- Maintain and update advertising materials both on campus and at external sites.
- Collaborate with the creative services manager to understand project direction and develop layouts tailored to client needs.
- Design a wide array of graphics including brochures, flyers, newsletters, maps, posters, advertisements for print and digital media, signage, and vinyl wraps.
- Produce draft layouts through traditional sketches and digital software incorporating color, typography, illustrations, photography, animation, and layout techniques for client review.
- Optimize and prepare final graphic files for print vendors, online marketing, or production units.
- Create original artwork including logos and illustrations using Adobe Creative Suite software.
- Work with the creative services manager to prepare quotes, bid specifications, contracts, and coordinate with specialty vendors, printers, mail houses and oversee their performance related to marketing and publications.
- Organize distribution and conduct quality control of printed materials across campus and external locations.
- Plan and execute photography sessions as needed, including setting up studios and capturing campus events.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Detail-oriented with teamwork capabilities and strong technology skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher.
- Understanding of professional print processes, pre-press production, printing techniques, paper options, and finishing methods.
- Experienced with both PC (Microsoft Office) and Mac platforms and associated graphic design software.
- Competence using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, DreamWeaver, HTML, Constant Contact, Canva, among others.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage expectations effectively.
- Excellent attention to precision and details.
- Familiarity with layout principles and basic design aesthetics.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and eagerness to develop new skills.
- Work well under fast-paced conditions and maintain excellent customer service standards.
Physical and Working Conditions
Work is primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, and handling light items such as papers or books. Typical equipment includes PC workstations on LAN, telephone, calculator, and other office devices. The work environment is climate-controlled with minimal exposure to safety risks.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED along with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Compensation and Benefits
