Job description

Role Overview

The Parent Support Specialist acts as a pivotal resource within the school environment, offering families vital information about educational programs, engagement events, and community resources. This specialist must be deeply familiar with the school's offerings, including after-school opportunities and extracurricular activities, to effectively inform and support parents and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide parents with ideas and guidance on reinforcing and extending learning activities through various group formats.
  • Conduct home visits, ensuring all related documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Identify and connect families with relevant community resources to support their needs.
  • Facilitate communication between school staff and families.
  • Organize and execute parent education programs that inform and empower families with academic insights and community information.
  • Promote awareness of school programs and activities to students and families through effective communication channels.
  • Distribute approved materials about school and local community activities at events like Fam Jams.
  • Create and implement strategic plans aimed at increasing parental involvement on campus.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and training of campus volunteers to support school initiatives.
  • Participate in all mandatory professional development sessions related to the position.

Work Environment

The workplace typically experiences a moderate noise level. The job requires travel throughout the district, and incumbents must perform their duties onsite as remote or alternate work arrangements are not permitted for campus-based employees.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent accredited in the United States.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven capacity to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
