Job description
Overview
We are looking for an experienced Paraplanner to join an established independent financial planning firm in Tonbridge, Kent. The business supports individuals, families, and companies with personalised advice across wealth management, retirement planning, and corporate financial strategy.
The firm follows a relationship-focused, whole-client approach. Rather than simply recommending products, it works to understand each client’s goals and builds tailored financial plans that support long-term financial wellbeing and lifestyle aims. The team values collaboration, a practical mindset, and people who are comfortable bringing new ideas and constructive challenge to improve outcomes for clients and the wider business.
This is a strong opportunity for a Paraplanner who wants to work in a supportive, professional setting with mentoring and guidance available to help develop skills and progress further in the profession.
Compensation and benefits
- Basic salary of £40,000 to £45,000, depending on experience
- Office-based role with the possibility of some remote working after probation
- 20 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
- Support for professional exams, including financial assistance and study leave
- Pension contributions
- After 2 years of service, enhanced benefits including private medical insurance and critical illness cover
- Office closure over the Christmas period
Working pattern
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- One hour for lunch
Candidate profile
Applicants should already have the experience and technical background required for this position. Only candidates who meet the outlined criteria are expected to apply.
The role suits a Paraplanner with at least two years of experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ambition to continue developing within paraplanning rather than moving into advice roles. The firm is particularly interested in someone who wants to progress toward a Senior Paraplanning position.
Technical requirements
You should be confident working across pensions, investments, estate planning, and protection. Experience with complex cases, especially for clients nearing retirement, is important. The role also calls for the ability to carry out research and analysis, prepare detailed suitability reports, and use cash flow modelling and technical analysis tools. Familiarity with platforms such as Transact, Aberdeen, Quilter, and similar providers is also valuable.
A solid understanding of FCA rules, compliance expectations, and regulated financial planning processes is essential.
Working style and soft skills
The ideal person will be well organised, careful, and able to work in a structured way with a proactive approach. Strong attention to detail is important, along with the confidence to communicate with advisers and collaborate as part of a team to achieve the best outcome for each client. You should also be comfortable managing several cases at different stages and prioritising your workload effectively.
