Overview of the Role

Al-Futtaim Automotive is seeking a skilled Paint Technician to join its Body Shop team in Qatar. This role is crucial for preparing vehicle surfaces, applying primer and paint according to manufacturer standards, and restoring vehicle finishes through polishing and refinishing. The ideal candidate will take pride in quality workmanship, value safety, and thrive in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare damaged vehicle surfaces by applying body filler, sanding, and priming as needed.
• Apply paint to vehicles and their components in adherence to manufacturer repair standards.
• Perform polishing, rubbing, and compounding to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Ensure all paint and refinishing work meets stringent quality and workmanship standards.
• Operate painting tools, spray guns, booths, and related equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Participate actively in team meetings, safety training sessions, and technical assessments.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in automotive paint preparation, priming, painting, polishing, and refinishing.
• Solid understanding of paint manufacturer instructions, materials, and application techniques.
• Proficiency in using paint shop equipment, including spray guns, sanding tools, polishing machines, and paint booths.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on achieving superior finish quality and durability.

About the Team

You will be an integral part of the Body Shop team, collaborating closely with the Body Shop Supervisor and fellow technicians. The team is dedicated to delivering top-tier repair and refinishing services across various vehicle brands, upholding dealer and manufacturer standards, and ensuring every vehicle is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest customer satisfaction.

What Equips You for the Role

• A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in an automotive paint shop, with practical experience in car body painting and refinishing.
• A high school qualification is mandatory. Formal technical training, such as an ITI course in Automobile Engineering with a specialization in car body painting and refinishing, is advantageous.
• Comfort and proficiency in using modern paint shop tools and equipment.
• Openness to continuous training, internal assessments, and certification development.
• A strong awareness of workplace safety practices and a commitment to maintaining safe working standards.
• The ability to work efficiently, follow established procedures, and contribute to overall workshop productivity.
• A proactive attitude towards learning new techniques and technologies, and a willingness to complete role-specific certifications.
