The company is seeking leaders who can thrive in changing environments, solve problems with confidence, and demonstrate the Amazon leadership principle of being curious and open to learning.
What you will do
- Own the design, setup and day-to-day execution of operational processes from fulfillment centers to sortation hubs and onward to last-mile delivery centers.
- Recruit, train and develop a motivated workforce for sortation hubs, with support from HR and training teams, so city operations meet required levels of quality and productivity.
- Make sure the sites have sufficient capacity to handle peak-period demand.
- Work with Finance, Delivery Stations, FC teams and Projects teams on matters related to city operations.
- Carry out performance reviews for team members and coach them to run operations effectively.
- Keep improving processes to raise quality, cut waste and remove unnecessary work.
- Study reports and data to spot bottlenecks and improve overall performance.
- Lead regional initiatives related to safety, employee engagement, network speed and cost efficiency.
- Run daily stand-ups, WBRs, MBRs and peak preparedness calls.
- Use data analysis to identify constraints and implement improvement methods such as Kaizen and continuous improvement.
- Review and close the labor plan for the site so cost is optimized without compromising performance standards or associate experience.
- Guide other operations managers, challenge existing practices and help spread better ways of working across sites and teams.
What the company is looking for
- Strong leadership ability with experience managing people.
- Comfort working in uncertain or rapidly changing situations.
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain tasks and expectations and listen effectively to others.
- Ability to plan timelines, set ambitious but realistic targets, and monitor progress to deliver strong business outcomes.
- Customer-first thinking and the ability to help teams understand customer needs and experience.
- Strong accountability and follow-through to make sure solutions and service improvements are delivered.
- Analytical ability to review information, validate key facts and compare options along with their risks and benefits.
