About the Role

Join HSBC, a leading global banking and financial services organization operating across 64 countries, in Bengaluru as an Operations Associate. This role involves managing key operational controls to mitigate trader risks and uphold the bank's reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely generation of Off-Market Rate Checking and Best Execution Monitoring, vital for controlling operational risks linked to trader activities.
  • Investigate transactions executed outside prevailing market rates or beyond acceptable price thresholds including inception profit margins.
  • Engage with traders regarding exceptions found in Best Execution analysis, documenting justifications and escalating significant concerns to trading desk leadership.
  • Report any unreasonable or suspicious activity patterns to management, preparing and distributing management information as required.
  • Maintain service standards within a controlled operational environment while seeking improvements to reduce delivery times.
  • Lead and participate in high-impact quality initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency using methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean processes.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and handle ad hoc assignments while maintaining rigorous governance and control standards.
  • Ensure performance standards defined in the Performance Level Agreement are consistently met or exceeded.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant, CFA candidate, or MBA from a Tier I institute, or from a Tier II institute with approximately one year of experience in product control, middle office, or front office operations with knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and IAS reporting.
  • Understanding of various financial products including Equities, Foreign Exchange, Fixed Income, and Derivatives such as Options, Interest Rate Swaps, Equity and Credit Derivatives.
  • Experience managing finance process migrations and working in multicultural environments, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities combined with tact, diplomacy, and relationship management skills across various teams.
  • Ability to work well with both senior and junior staff, providing constructive feedback and coordinating tasks across multiple teams.
  • Quality-oriented mindset familiar with Six Sigma or Lean methodologies and a technical aptitude.
  • Proficient in MS Office and exposure to project management software.
  • Global experience and capability to multitask effectively.
