Job description

Role Overview

ThirdChannel is seeking a Tech Representative to support On, a premium global sportswear brand, across a designated local territory in the United States. This position is best suited to someone with authentic ties to the running world who can provide strong product education and hands-on in-store support.

In this role, you will manage retailer relationships, deliver product training, and act as a brand advocate in your market. Store visits are one hour long and are scheduled monthly or every other month depending on territory needs. The objective is to build knowledgeable retail teams, improve brand presence, and positively influence sell-through. You will be expected to develop a clear understanding of your market, identify the most impactful opportunities, and suggest ways to strengthen On’s connection with the running community.

About ThirdChannel

ThirdChannel helps brands place knowledgeable advocates into retail environments through a technology-enabled platform that connects brands, retailers, and field teams.

Work Arrangement

This is a freelance, independent contractor role under a 1099 arrangement. The position is territory-based within the United States and is part of the Field team supporting Brand Education. You will coordinate functionally with the On Tech Team and administratively with ThirdChannel.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong technical knowledge of On footwear, apparel, and product innovation through training, independent learning, product testing, and field exposure.
  • Lead engaging education sessions for retail associates on product features, benefits, technologies, and selling approaches, while serving as a dependable resource for store staff and managers.
  • Visit stores regularly to assess product placement and brand visibility, take photos, and submit thorough visit reports using the ThirdChannel platform.
  • Collect input from retail staff and customers and relay useful feedback to internal teams.
  • Represent On with professionalism, energy, and authenticity while strengthening relationships with retail partners.
  • Support brand awareness and sales performance through local marketing activity and field programs tied to the running community.
  • Assist with retail events, including product demos, community runs, and brand activations that create a premium brand experience.
  • Monitor the market by analyzing competitors, tracking trends and consumer behavior, and turning observations into clear recommendations for the On team.

Requirements

  • Hands-on background in specialty running retail.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Personal involvement in running culture, such as training, racing, run clubs, or coaching.
  • Strong skills in presenting, facilitating, and coaching.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently while covering multiple retail locations.
  • Comfort using mobile devices and digital reporting tools, with access to a smartphone or tablet and internet connectivity; device requirements are iOS 17.0+ or Android 10.0+.
  • Prior experience in brand representation, retail training, field marketing, or sales is preferred.
  • Experience with REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods, or similar athletic retail environments is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation are required.
  • Ability to travel regularly across the assigned territory and work weekends.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay is set at $100 per hour, depending on market conditions and relevant experience.
  • Independent contractor status may provide a strong source of supplemental income.
  • Scheduling is flexible and coordinated directly with store management.
  • Store visits are one hour each, with coverage occurring monthly or bi-monthly based on market demand.
  • Bi-monthly training calls with On brand leaders support ongoing professional development.
  • Access to product knowledge, industry insights, and brand education is included.
  • The role offers the chance to work with one of the fastest-growing and most innovative brands in running.

Additional Information

This role is location-based in the United States and supported on a territory basis. The position is focused on field education, in-store execution, and community-facing brand support. Weekend availability and regular travel are part of the work expectations.
