Job description

About LIC

LIC is a farmer-owned cooperative that has been helping improve herds in New Zealand’s dairy industry for over 115 years. The organisation focuses on superior genetics, dependable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and strong customer support, all aimed at helping farmers make better decisions every day.

Everything from LIC’s people to its products and services contributes to the LIC experience. The company’s commitment is to deliver an exceptional customer experience. It is a global leader in pasture-based dairy genetics and herd management, and its work is guided by a focus on creating value for farmer shareholders.

LIC has a team of passionate specialists who are experts in their areas. The organisation values accountability and agility, and its people share a strong connection to farming and to the farmer community it serves.

About the Role

In this position, you will help improve the quality and consistency of on-farm decision-making by building scalable capability across LIC’s sales network. Your work will involve turning product knowledge, herd improvement expertise, and behavioural insights into practical systems that support consistent, high-quality field conversations.

The role moves capability development beyond one-to-one coaching and toward structured learning approaches that can be used at scale and create real behavioural change on farm. Although you will not have direct people management responsibility, you will collaborate closely with Product, Herd Improvement, CX, and Sales teams to lift capability across the business. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys a fast-moving environment, thinks in systems, and likes converting insight into practical outcomes.

Key Focus Areas

You will design and implement learning and capability systems that translate product knowledge, herd improvement know-how, and behavioural insight into consistent, effective on-farm conversations. You will create modular learning experiences that fit farmer decision cycles and provide Agri Managers and Sales Leaders with tools and coaching methods that support behaviour change at scale. You will also work across functions to ensure insights are converted into field capability, keep initiatives aligned with business strategy, and incorporate data, cohorts, and propensity modelling into execution. Ownership of onboarding and ongoing learning will be part of your remit, along with defining and measuring success through learning, behaviour change, adoption, and commercial outcomes.

Skills and Experience

You should have a relevant degree and solid experience building and delivering structured learning or capability programmes based on adult learning principles, ideally in commercial or agricultural settings. You will need the ability to simplify technical information into practical frameworks that can be adopted consistently and at scale.

The role also calls for a clear communicator and collaborative partner who can influence across teams, connect capability work to business strategy and customer outcomes, and work independently in a dynamic environment. Experience using behavioural insights, cohort analysis, and data to guide action in the real world will be valuable.

Work Environment and Benefits

The role is based about 10 minutes from Hamilton in a semi-rural setting, offering a lifestyle change for people seeking better work-life balance and a lower cost of living than larger cities. Flexible and remote working arrangements are also open for consideration.

Along with a competitive salary, the role includes a range of benefits.

Additional Benefits

  • Extra leave entitlement
  • Flexible work options
  • Discounted health, life, income, and disability insurance
  • Access to an employee share scheme
  • Wellbeing-related discounts
  • Free parking on site
  • A Hamilton office set in park-like surrounds, with a tennis court, pool, on-site café, and social club

Opportunity

You will join a new, industry-leading Experience Design practice at LIC and help shape how insight is turned into better on-farm decisions.
