Job description

Role overview

This position supports office maintenance activities across AEP business units located in AEP buildings. Working with limited supervision, the role focuses on employee and furniture moves, conference room preparation and cleanup, systems furniture adjustments, minor repairs, audiovisual support, and oversight of outside contractors.

Key duties

  • Process electronic service requests for furniture changes, repairs, relocations, and other special needs, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Install, adjust, and repair different types of office furniture systems and workplace equipment.
  • Supervise contractors performing projects inside AEP buildings and provide direction as needed.
  • Keep building blueprints, records, and files current, including creating, editing, and storing electronic documents.
  • Review contractor safety plans before work begins on AEP property and share feedback where necessary.
  • Check contractor labor and material invoices for correctness before they are sent for payment.
  • Partner daily with administrative assistants and other staff to prepare, dismantle, and clean conference rooms.
  • Maintain, adjust, test, troubleshoot, support, and train users on conference room audio-visual systems and related equipment.

Candidate profile

The role calls for a high school diploma or GED, along with two years of experience in furniture systems or the maintenance/repair field. Experience with office audio-visual equipment operations and upkeep is also required. A valid state driver’s license is necessary. Helpful but not mandatory qualifications include OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training and Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification. Applicants should be comfortable using Outlook and Microsoft Office, including spreadsheets and word processing documents, and be able to read and interpret drawings, prints, and diagrams tied to the work. Strong verbal and written communication, solid customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels are important. The job also requires a consistent focus on safety and safe working practices. Occasional overtime may be needed.

Physical requirements

This job involves physically demanding work. Tasks may include lifting and moving boxes, crates, office furniture, and panel systems weighing up to 100 pounds for up to 33% of the time, moving palletized materials with a pallet jack, loading and unloading trucks, using hand and power tools, climbing ladders up to 10 feet, and operating a motor vehicle.

Pay and compensation

The annual base pay range is $39,253.00 to $49,066.00. The listed compensation grade is SP20-002, and the hourly compensation range is $18.87 to $23.59. AEP also provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee wellbeing.
