About the Role
DHL Global Forwarding, Freight is the air, ocean, and road freight specialist within DHL Group. The business supports customers across industries with both standard transportation and tailored end-to-end logistics solutions. This position is based in Doha, Qatar, and focuses on ocean freight operations and trade lane development.
In this role, you will help build and grow trade lane consolidations for South African export cargo, work closely with the global DGF network to strengthen the gateway for neighboring countries and local coastal branches, coordinate daily operations within the airfreight gateway, and support the ACC Manager with rate and capacity procurement when needed.
What You Will Do
- Handle shipment-level tasks, including receiving customer bookings, managing document requirements, and coordinating related local and international transportation.
- Serve as the main contact for customers on shipment updates, exceptions, complaints, and claims.
- Oversee routing and shipment allocation so service commitments are met, margins are protected, invoices are accurate, supporting documents are prepared properly, and billing disputes are addressed.
- Take responsibility for file profitability.
- Carry out required regulatory compliance steps tied to shipment commodities and locations.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, look for upselling opportunities, visit customers, and support retention goals.
- Investigate and resolve daily delivery issues while applying better practices to improve ocean freight operations and the use of the transportation management system.
- Address supplier performance issues and recommend improvements.
- Solve repeated operational issues and suggest process enhancements that improve speed and effectiveness.
- When required, guide, advise, or train less experienced team members.
- Contribute to PDs and GEMBA activities by raising issues and proactively sharing improvement ideas.
- Create and confirm transport orders, manage and optimize bookings, and support import/export documentation workflows.
- Update customs shipment details and physical status, and resolve customer incidents and issues.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of experience and qualification is required.
- Vocational, specialized, technical, or certification-based education is also relevant.
- Applicants should have less than 2 years of experience.
