Job description

Role Overview

Busy Bees is looking for an Early Years Educator to take an active lead in supporting children’s intellectual, social, and emotional growth. This role sits within a nursery group that places strong emphasis on quality learning, child development, and staff progression.

About Busy Bees

Busy Bees is one of the largest nursery groups in the UK, operating close to 400 nurseries across the UK and additional locations overseas. The organisation is focused on helping every child get the best possible beginning in life and has received recognition for its workplace culture. Team members are encouraged to feel respected, supported, and listened to.

Why Join Busy Bees

You’ll work in an environment designed to help you build engaging learning spaces where children can grow with confidence. The nursery uses the Bee Curious curriculum, which is intended to spark curiosity and build self-assurance in young learners.

Charitable and Community Involvement

Through a partnership with BBC Children in Need, the organisation provides opportunities to take part in community initiatives and fundraising efforts that support children.

About the Nursery

Busy Bees Reading International is rated Good by Ofsted and can care for up to 105 children. It is conveniently placed about a two-minute walk from a regular bus route that connects directly to the town centre. The nursery is located behind the Verizon building and close to Junction 11, offering a calm but well-connected setting for families. Staff parking is free, making daily travel easier.

What You Will Do

  • Set up safe and engaging learning areas by preparing resources and organising spaces that support children’s development.
  • Plan and run activities that encourage progress across physical, emotional, intellectual, and social areas in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Act as a key person by monitoring children’s development and care needs while building positive relationships with families.

What We Are Looking For

  • A Level 3 qualification, or higher, in Early Years Education.
  • Practical experience working with children under 5, along with a genuine interest in early childhood learning.
  • Strong communication skills, good organisational ability, and the capability to use child development knowledge when planning activities.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay.
  • Continued professional development and clear opportunities for career growth.
  • Access to the Hive benefits and wellbeing hub, including discounts with a wide range of retailers.
  • Up to 28 days of annual leave, bank holidays included.
  • Your birthday off as a special extra benefit.
  • 50% childcare discount.
  • Enhanced family leave and a return-to-work bonus.
  • Menopause support via Peppy.
  • Financial support through Salary Finance.
  • Employee Assistance Programme and support from Mental Health First Aiders.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Simple access to a workplace pension through Cushon.
  • Discounted Private Medical Insurance.
  • Opportunities to travel abroad, experience different cultures, and learn new practices.
  • Access to the Benefits and Wellbeing platform, including retail discounts, a wellbeing hub, a recognition area, and development and training resources through Grow with Us.
