About the role

Crathorne Hall Hotel in Yarm, North Yorkshire is looking for an energetic and knowledgeable Night Porter to join the team on a permanent full-time basis. The position is scheduled for 5 days out of 7, including weekends, with 40 hours per week that may change according to business needs. Flexible working hours can be arranged where possible.

This is an opportunity to work in a distinguished luxury hotel environment known for its Edwardian character, scenic surroundings and high standards of service. The role suits someone who enjoys hospitality, works well with others and takes pride in helping create memorable guest stays.

Role overview

In this overnight position, you will contribute to guest service throughout the night while also ensuring the hotel remains safe, secure and well organised. The work can include preparing late-night drinks, delivering room service, handling reception duties and helping set up for the next day’s events.

You will also be responsible for completing the night audit, checking balances and making sure the property is ready for the following day. Clear communication with colleagues across shifts will be important to keep operations running smoothly.

Working pattern and pay

The salary starts at £14.00 per hour, with additional service charge and regular pay reviews linked to commitment and performance. A live-in option is available for a weekly cost of £77.70, which includes a single-occupancy room with an en-suite, plus access to a shared kitchen and laundry.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will be proactive, friendly and enthusiastic, with a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional personalised service. Previous experience in a luxury four- or five-star hotel front office, ideally on night shifts, is preferred. Strong computer literacy is essential, including confidence with hotel reservation systems and Microsoft Office; experience using Opera is highly desirable.
