About the Role
Join us as a Night Porter and play a key role in delivering an exceptional experience to our guests. You will ensure their comfort and security throughout the night by maintaining a safe environment and providing attentive service. Our unique venue, The Odney Hotel, is nestled in 130 acres by the River Thames in Cookham, Berkshire. This John Lewis Partnership-owned hotel features five historically styled houses and beautiful grounds including a private riverside, water gardens, a pool, and sports facilities. The main building, Lullebrook Manor, inspired the classic novel "The Wind in The Willows," offering guests a blend of history and leisure, such as afternoon tea, bar drinks, and dining overlooking the river.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an ambassador for the brand, ensuring a consistently excellent customer experience
- Offer flexibility by supporting various areas and departments within the hotel as needed
- Provide security services across the estate during night hours
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to address reactive maintenance issues promptly
- Manage check-in and check-out processes for late arrivals and early departures
- Secure estate outbuildings and offices by locking them appropriately
- Respond to building alarms and reset them when necessary
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a full UK driving licence
- Experience working independently, especially in high-pressure and lone working situations
- First aid certification
- Familiarity with duty management and building security, including computer and IT skills
Additional Desired Skills
- Previous experience or knowledge of hotel operations
- Basic maintenance abilities
- Eagerness to develop new skills through available training
