The company is growing its editorial leadership group and is seeking experienced, motivated senior journalists and editors who can help drive change and influence editorial style and direction.
Role Overview
As a News Editor, you will help define the voice and editorial direction of AsiaOne’s news coverage. You will work closely with the management team and collaborate with other internal departments to strengthen reporting and bring a distinctive edge to the newsroom.
This role involves leading junior journalists while overseeing the daily content plan across news, feature pieces, personal reflections and commentary.
What You Will Do
- Lead and support a team of journalists while building a cooperative, high-performing newsroom culture.
- Take part in editorial planning with other teams to shape and deliver an ambitious content strategy for local and regional audiences.
- Track the news agenda and curate material from a range of sources and partners to create clear, engaging stories.
- Develop content across multiple formats, including news articles, feature stories, photo-led pieces and video journalism.
Requirements
- You should have 5 to 8 years of experience in a newsroom, ideally with a strong editing background and the ability to work with data and audience analytics.
- A bachelor’s degree is expected; qualifications in journalism, communications or social sciences are preferred.
- You need strong news judgement and the ability to communicate ideas persuasively through both language and visuals.
- Resourcefulness, creativity and a strong sense of purpose are important for this role.
- You should be active on social media and closely follow the latest news developments in Singapore and the region.
Preferred Strengths
Experience in a digital newsroom, managing social media, and producing video journalism will be considered a strong advantage.
Knowledge of a second or third language, whether reading or speaking, is also beneficial.
