Neonatal Governance Lead

Role Overview

We seek to appoint a permanent Neonatal Governance Lead at the Royal London Hospital's Neonatal ICU. This position involves spearheading investigations into serious incidents, developing and overseeing action plans aimed at enhancing service quality and maintaining the highest care standards. The successful candidate will advance quality improvement initiatives aligned with both national and local neonatal benchmarks, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to nurture a culture of safety and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead detailed investigations into serious incidents and ensure comprehensive action plans are created and tracked.
• Drive continuous quality improvement projects to meet specified neonatal care standards.
• Foster a culture that integrates clinical governance and patient safety into everyday care, emphasizing participation, openness, and accountability among patients, staff, and families.
• Support and guide staff in managing incidents and complaints, encouraging reflective practice and knowledge sharing.
• Manage change initiatives in response to incident learnings to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure incident investigations correspond with the severity level and report appropriately through Trust and national governance channels.
• Maintain communication with the Trust Neonatal Safety Champion and contribute to Trust and Network Governance and Risk meetings.
