Role Overview

Our partner company is seeking a National Account Manager based in the United States. This pivotal sales leadership position focuses on managing and growing major retail partnerships by owning strategic relationships, spearheading revenue growth initiatives, and collaborating cross-functionally to enhance business results. The role demands a blend of commercial expertise, analytical insight, and operational leadership to achieve profitable growth across vital product segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic account plans aimed at increasing revenue, expanding market presence, enhancing profitability, and ensuring long-term customer satisfaction.
  • Act as the primary business liaison for assigned national retail clients, cultivating relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Align sales strategies with customer goals and organizational objectives across diverse product categories.
  • Manage financial aspects including customer profitability, promotional funding, pricing tactics, and financial scenarios to optimize investment returns.
  • Lead collaboration between sales, category management, supply chain, customer service, finance, and other internal departments to meet account goals.
  • Oversee omnichannel performance, covering in-store placements, digital growth prospects, and online sales targets.
  • Analyze sales data, consumer trends, and performance metrics to uncover opportunities and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Conduct customer meetings, presentations, and business reviews, ensuring commitments are effectively executed.
  • Coordinate with demand planning and supply chain teams to enhance inventory management, forecast accuracy, and strategic long-term planning.
  • Monitor key project milestones, promotional efforts, and operational initiatives for seamless delivery.
  • Identify prospects for additional growth and provide strategic advice to strengthen customer alliances.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in major retail account management, enterprise sales, buying, merchandising, or similar commercial roles.
  • History of managing large-scale national retail accounts; experience with Walmart is especially valued.
  • Comprehensive understanding of retail sales tactics, category management, promotional planning, and customer relations.
  • Robust business acumen paired with strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex data and inform decision-making.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, notably Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with retail analytics platforms such as Retail Link or Scintilla is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with meticulous execution.
  • Self-driven, flexible, and comfortable adapting in dynamic environments with shifting priorities.
  • Preferred experience in durable goods sectors and possession of an MBA.
  • Willingness to travel approximately six times per year for company visits, client meetings, or industry events.
