About the Role
Join the Physiotherapy Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust as a Specialist MSK Physiotherapist based at Furness General Hospital. This role focuses on providing expert care for colleagues experiencing musculoskeletal (MSK) disorders, whether standalone or work-related. You will conduct specialist assessments, provide diagnoses, deliver treatments, and offer advice on workplace adjustments to enhance the well-being of our staff. The aim is to support colleagues by addressing MSK issues proactively and facilitating their return to work.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for complex physical, psychological, and social problems, utilizing advanced clinical reasoning to establish accurate diagnoses.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans, respecting patient privacy, dignity, and individuality.
- Continuously reassess patient progress and adapt treatment plans as necessary.
- Formulate detailed discharge plans for patients.
- Employ highly developed physical skills, including dexterity, coordination, and palpatory techniques, for effective assessment and intervention, including manual physiotherapy.
- Conduct ergonomic workplace assessments and develop return-to-work programs, recommending practical and ergonomic solutions.
- Contribute to and lead on health promotion initiatives within the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service, particularly in specialist MSK areas like back care.
- Work autonomously as a practitioner, managing your own caseload without direct supervision.
- Collaborate with the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service to design proactive strategies, including tailored workplace assessments.
- Engage with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) within Occupational Health and Wellbeing to provide advice and holistic care.
- Maintain clear communication with patients and other healthcare professionals regarding patient conditions, ensuring accurate clinical record-keeping in line with trust and professional standards.
- Participate in planned research and audit activities as required.
