Job description
Role overview
An opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and driven Radiographer to join the GJNH Radiology Team. Both newly qualified and more experienced practitioners are encouraged to apply. The department supports essential waiting-list imaging for Health Boards across NHS Scotland, along with specialist services for the West of Scotland Cardiothoracic Centre and inpatient imaging for the NHS Golden Jubilee site.
The radiology service is well equipped, with multiple MRI, CT and X-ray resources, cardiac cath labs, a DEXA scanner, a combined X-ray/fluoroscopy room, image intensifiers and mobile units. The department also hosts the National Ultrasound Training Programme.
Main duties
This post is within the Plain Film imaging area and focuses on X-ray, DEXA and fluoroscopy for both inpatients and outpatients. The caseload is varied and engaging, with structured clinical supervision and continuing professional development support.
You will be expected to assess, justify and carry out radiographic examinations, deliver direct patient care, and help maintain a high-quality diagnostic service centred on patient needs. There may also be limited opportunities to gain exposure and training in Cardiac Cath Lab, MRI or CT.
The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team across advanced cardio-thoracic services, including SACCS, SPVU, SNAFS and TAVI, as well as a busy orthopaedic service. The organisation also offers an environment with strong links to research and innovation.
Working pattern and flexibility
This position includes a commitment to 7-day working across extended shifts, so a flexible approach is essential. Rotation across different imaging modalities will depend on previous experience and service requirements. Full training in specialist imaging protocols will be provided after appointment.
Clinical supervision and CPD will be supported on an ongoing basis. Flexible working arrangements may be considered for this post.
Additional information
The vacancy may close ahead of schedule if a large number of applications is received, so early application is advisable.
The organisation is committed to fair, inclusive and accessible recruitment. Candidates with a disability or long-term health condition covered by the Equality Act 2010 can request support during any stage of the recruitment process by referring to the job pack.
Applications are welcomed from all sections of the community, and the organisation values diversity and inclusion across its workforce. Recruitment contact details are provided in the job pack.
