Role Summary

The Mortgage Loan Closer is responsible for managing the concluding phase of the mortgage loan process by collaborating with members, title and settlement partners, and internal lending teams to ensure smooth and precise loan closings.

Key Responsibilities

• Examine loan files and closing documentation to confirm compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory standards.
• Verify and approve Closing Disclosures prior to document release.
• Assemble complete and accurate closing document packages within designated timeframes.
• Coordinate closing schedules directly with borrowers and liaise with title or settlement agents.
• Maintain professional and transparent communication with members throughout the loan closing journey.
• Detect and resolve discrepancies or omissions in loan information by working with processing, underwriting, title, and post-closing teams.
• Ensure loan records are thoroughly maintained within the loan origination system.
• Utilize established checklists and procedures to confirm completion of all closing steps.
• Oversee a dynamic pipeline of loans differing in product type, complexity, and closing schedules.
• Prioritize workload based on closing deadlines, documentation status, regulatory considerations, and member impact.
• Manage at least three loan files daily under normal business conditions and adapt to evolving production demands.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of the entire loan process and understand the impact of closing activities on funding, post-closing, and member experience.
• Consistently achieve service level targets, maintain high-quality standards, and meet closing timelines.
• Operate during weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Required Qualifications

• Two to three years of recent practical experience in mortgage loan closing.
• Proven ability in reviewing and preparing mortgage closing documents.
• Experience in reconciling and approving Closing Disclosures.
• Familiarity with TRID rules and their application during closing processes.
• Direct communication experience with borrowers regarding closing requirements, scheduling, and issue resolution.
• Coordination expertise with title companies, settlement agents, processors, underwriters, and lending partners.
• Capacity to independently manage multiple loans with competing deadlines and varying complexities.
• Excellent attention to detail and dedication to ensuring document and data accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask efficiently, and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Adherence to established procedures while recognizing when to escalate or review exceptional issues.

Preferred Experience

• Handling closings for Conventional mortgages.
• Experience with FHA or VA loan closings.
• Exposure to Home Equity loan closings.
• Proficiency with Encompass or similar loan origination systems.
• Management of approximately 80 to 100 loan files monthly.
• Experience in high-volume mortgage lending settings.
