Job description
About the company
Jodel is a hyperlocal community platform built for real-time conversations with people nearby. The product helps users discover what is happening around them, follow relevant discussions, connect with shared interests, and express themselves freely. The company serves millions of active users across the Nordics, DACH, and the Middle East, and continues to expand internationally.
The culture is described as playful, friendly, and community-oriented, with a strong focus on innovation, user experience, inclusion, and positive impact. The team values building a product that feels intuitive, dependable, and easy to use.
Role overview
This position leads commercial LiveOps and monetisation for a freemium mobile product. The focus is on shaping pricing, promotions, experimentation, subscription growth, and long-term revenue systems while working closely with Product and other teams to balance user value with sustainable business outcomes.
What you will do
- Take full ownership of the commercial LiveOps approach, including pricing models, promotional planning, testing strategy, and the execution of a data-led commercial calendar.
- Build monetisation mechanics from a freemium perspective by balancing free and premium value, designing upgrade journeys, and partnering with Product on sustainable growth levers.
- Develop and refine the monetisation roadmap, starting with subscriptions and then extending into consumables, repeat-purchase loops, and broader ARPPU growth initiatives.
- Use tools such as RevenueCat in a hands-on way to configure products, paywalls, targeting, and experiments, while monitoring metrics and diagnosing changes in performance.
- Own the analytical view of monetisation performance across conversion, retention, ARPU, LTV, pricing, FX, and cohort trends, and turn insights into the most important growth actions.
- Drive cross-functional monetisation projects such as tiering, packaging, and pricing changes across placements, clients, and markets, with clear business impact.
- Improve the subscription foundation by aligning stakeholders, strengthening tooling and measurement, and making operational processes more scalable.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in freemium monetisation or LiveOps, preferably in mobile games or large-scale freemium applications.
- A solid record of growing in-app purchases, ideally for products that add value rather than solving a painful problem.
- Strong understanding of freemium business models and growth tactics across the funnel, especially in social or multiplayer environments.
- Experience running a live-service product, with good grasp of digital app economy principles and strong analytics capability.
- Ability to interpret data, build clear narratives, and convert insights into prioritized next steps.
- Deep familiarity with behavioural psychology in monetisation, including how to create effective hooks without causing user fatigue from over-monetisation.
- Excellent project and stakeholder management skills in complex, multi-market settings.
- A high-ownership mindset: practical, self-directed, resilient, and comfortable handling most execution personally.
Benefits
- Paid company offsites and team offsites every year, including destinations across Europe and MENA, plus in-person events such as year-end and anniversary gatherings, along with remote-friendly activities and themed weeks.
- Monthly meal and drink allowance that can be used for lunch, after-work dinner, or via a virtual card at restaurants, cafés, or food spots anywhere in the world.
- Choice between a sponsored Wellhub subscription for sports, mental health, and wellness services, or a mobility benefit through Navit or the DB Deutschlandticket.
- Access to sports and activity options such as gyms, yoga, swimming, climbing, and a range of online fitness and meditation classes.
- Mental health and wellness app access, including services such as Headspace, Calm, iFeel, Pregnancy+, and Clue Period / Cycle Tracker.
- Monthly mobility budget through Navit for public transport, the Deutschlandticket, and other options such as Uber and Bolt.
- Corporate discounts with brands including Adidas, LG, Bosch, Apple, and others.
- A personal development budget, offered monthly or yearly, for memberships, books, certifications, conferences, AI subscriptions, and similar learning expenses.
- Flexible remote-friendly working setup, with the option to use the redesigned Berlin office near Checkpoint Charlie, which includes coffee, drinks, snacks, kicker, and table tennis.
Equal opportunity
Everyone is welcome regardless of gender identity, nationality, age, disability, sexual orientation, or religion. The employer states that discrimination and harassment will not be tolerated and values a diverse mix of backgrounds, experience, talent, and perspectives.
Additional information
The role is described as suitable for someone who is passionate about local communities and wants to contribute to a fast-growing startup. The working setup is remote-friendly, with the possibility of working partly from the Berlin office depending on the role or personal preference.
