Job description
About the opportunity
Bank of New Zealand is seeking a mobile Home Loan Partner to join its expanding home lending team in Hawke's Bay. In this role, you will work across the community, offering specialist home loan guidance, developing trusted customer relationships, and supporting people through every step of the home lending process — from the first discussion and pre-approval stage through to approval, drawdown, and after settlement.
The position suits someone with solid home lending experience, strong confidence in identifying and converting opportunities, and an established network that can be used to create quality leads. You will be expected to be visible, proactive, and well connected in the region, helping strengthen BNZ’s mobile presence and positioning the bank as a preferred choice for home lending.
Key responsibilities
- Develop new home lending business through existing networks, referrals, and a strong local market presence.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers, introducers, and community contacts throughout the region.
- Support customers through the entire home lending process, including pre-approval, approval, drawdown, and settlement.
- Prepare high-quality credit submissions and coordinate with internal teams to move applications forward.
- Follow up on leads, understand customer needs, and ensure a strong customer experience at each stage.
- Help New Zealanders make progress toward their home ownership goals.
What makes this role appealing
This role offers the chance to stand alongside customers during one of the most significant milestones in their lives: buying a home. Home lending is deeply personal, and you will see the real impact of your advice and expertise as customers move from possibility to ownership. You will also have the freedom to grow BNZ’s mobile home lending presence across the region, while being backed by a high-performing team and a respected brand.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will be passionate about home lending and comfortable guiding customers from early conversations and pre-approvals through to settlement. Because this is an acquisition-focused position, you should be self-driven, enjoy spending time in the market, and be skilled at turning relationships into lending opportunities.
- Proven home lending experience, with strong credit knowledge and confidence handling applications from start to finish.
- A well-established regional network and the ability to generate leads and create referral pathways.
- A proactive, resilient, and relationship-focused approach, with the drive to build a strong personal presence.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to doing things right the first time for customers.
- Good understanding of the local property market, including new builds, property development, and turnkey lending.
Additional requirements
Because the role serves customers across the region, you must be comfortable travelling and meeting customers in locations that suit them best. A company vehicle is provided, and a clean full driver licence is required.
Why join BNZ
BNZ emphasises wellbeing, flexible working, generous leave, learning, and career growth. Staff benefits include six weeks of annual leave, flexible working options, wellbeing support, and banking and insurance benefits. The team is described as fast-paced and busy, but also highly supportive, collaborative, and generous, with a strong focus on shared success.
Culture and purpose
At BNZ, the focus goes beyond banking. The organisation values innovation, collaboration, and creating a better future for customers and communities. It is a place where people care deeply about one another, their customers, and the communities they serve, while working together to help New Zealanders achieve their goals.
Important information
The official internal title for this position is Home Loan Partner. Applications will be reviewed throughout the advertising period, and the employer may close the vacancy early if required. The closing date is 09 July 2026.
