Metals Inspector - UK

About the Company

VIPA is a European multinational headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, with a strong presence in global recycling and recovered material trading. As the UK business continues to expand, the company is adding a Metals Division Inspector to support operations across the country.

Role Overview

This is a remote position based anywhere in the UK. The role focuses on inspecting scrap metal loads, checking material quality, and supporting supplier-site loading activities to ensure standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled and routine visual checks on scrap metal shipments.
• Examine and test materials against defined quality standards.
• Be present during container loading at supplier locations.
• Report inspection issues to operations and commercial supervisors and help suggest corrective actions when standards are not met.
• Work closely with the commercial team on supplier quality and consistency matters.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Prior exposure to the scrap metal sector, including ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Commercial experience will be viewed favourably.
• A valid driving licence is required.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Comfortable adapting to change and working under pressure.
• Confident decision-making skills.
• Willingness to travel within the UK for business needs.

Only applicants already based locally in the UK will be considered. Relocation support is not available.
